Violet Dancer

A male Violet Dancer (Argia fumipennis violacea).

This species is also known as the Variable Dancer because southern individuals have brown or black wings. In Minnesota we have only the clear-winged subspecies, Argia fumipennis violacea.

Being able to see the hairs/spikes on the legs is not a usual outcome for damselfly pictures.

Or at least not the ones I'm used to!
